Soua Thao Heu

Soua Thao Heu: A beloved, beautiful, and strong wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away on February 14, 2019 at the age of 69.

She is survived by her husband Chay Heu and five children, Foung Hawj, Fue Heu, Bao Heu, Chue Heu, and Thai Heu.

Soua was born in Nangha Mongpheng, Laos and grew up with very little education. She married her husband, Chay Heu in 1964. She was a self-made businesswoman operating her own food market stand at the Long Tien Morning Market and pharmacy store in Ban Xon City and was a mother figure to many highland students living in her Vientiane home for school in the city.
After the Secret War in Laos in 1975 to escape the threat of genocide of the Hmong people, Soua took her five children through the jungles of Laos and across the Mekong River to Ban Vinai Refugee Camp in Thailand. 
On September 2, 1976, Soua and her family arrived in the United States after receiving political asylum. They first resided in Souix Fall, South Dakota then moved to Houston, Texas. Kansas City, KS became home in 1980 where she became a founding and devoting member of the First Hmong Missionary Alliance Church. Soua also started school for the first time in her life at the age of 32 and received her E.S.L certificate. In 2008, Soua and her family moved to Minnesota.
While in the United States, Soua worked two jobs to support her children after her husband became disabled. Soua retired at the age of 52 and continued with ministry work with her husband in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Minnesota. Her goal in life was to make sure that all of her children finished school and became independent. 
Soua’s health deteriorated in 2013. She battled through many surgeries and lived a meaningful and fulfilled life, always positively impacting all those around her. To every person who knew her, she will forever be remembered for her kind soul and love serving God.

Funeral service will be held in Kansas City, KS on March 9th, 2019 to March 10th, 2019 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at Faith Deliverance Family Worship Center, 3043 State Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102, 913-321-5220.
