Chia C. Xiong, who lived to 88 blessed years and was happily married to his wife May Vang for 62 years, passed away peacefully in his son’s home on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 1:30 PM. Chia was born on June 6, 1931 in village of Phavlom, city of Xiengkhouang, Laos to Cher Vang Xiong and Seng Vang. He had seven siblings.

Chia is survived by his wife May Vang, four sons, and two daughters. Four daughter in-law and two sons-in-law, 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

1954 Chia’s father passed away and he became the head of household. 1954-1955 he served with the French Army. 1961-1963 he proudly served during the Vietnam War under the CIA.

After the fall of Saigon, Chia and his family fled Laos in 1976 to Nongkhai refugee camp in Thailand. In 1978 Chia immigrated to the United States and resided in Providence, RI before moving to Kansas City, Kansas in 1979.

Chia became Christian in 1951 in the village of Phavlom, city of Xiengkhouang, Laos. He is an honest man and love his family unconditionally.

Chia enjoyed working with his hands and tended to his small garden. He enjoy fishing watching Hmong TV channels. We have been blessed to have had Chia in our lives as a partner, a father, brother, and a friend.

All services will take place at Faith Deliverance Church, 3043 State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas with burial taking place at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
