Carmen Villalpando (Romero) 74, passed away on November 25, 2019 at 9:03PM with family at bedside at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Carmen was born July 1, 1945 in Tepatitlan, Jalisco in Mexico, where she grew up with her six siblings. Carmen lived in Los Angeles with her family and moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1970. Carmen earned her GED and clerical certificate all while married and raising a family. Carmen was a homemaker, clerical worker, job placement counselor (Economic Opportunity Foundation) and later ran a printing press at Corporate Express/Staples. Carmen enjoyed her family, music, and was an avid dancer. Carmen was a strong, hard-working woman with a sweet soul, loving personality, and funny sense of humor. Carmen had an amazing smile. She enjoyed dressing up, spending time with her family and friends, and dabbling in playing slot machines. Carmen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Carmen will be deeply missed and remembered by all.

Carmen was preceded in death by her father and her mother, Andres and Christina Romero, her daughter Augustina Villalpando, and her son David Villalpando. Carmen is survived by her sons and family: Juan F. Villalpando & family of Colorado, son Daniel Villalpando and wife: Gabriella, and son Roberto Villalpando of Kansas City, Kansas; eight grandchildren: Leslie Villalpando, Richard Mills, Travis McClanahan, Julian, Manuel, Alexandria, Savanna, and Gabriel Villalpando. Siblings; Beatriz Gomez (Jose) of Norwalk, California, Conception Gonzales (Brigido) and Francisco Romero (Amelia Barba) of Jalisco, Mexico, Teresa Escarcega (Rufino) of North Hills, California, and Mary Spooner (Richard) of Santa Clarita, California. Carmen also left many others including aunts, nieces, cousins, family, and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements are held by Kansas City Funeral Directors, 4880 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral Services will be on Friday, December 6th at All Saints Parish, 811 Vermont, Kansas City, Kansas 66101. Rosary with visitation from 09:30-11:00 AM, Mass at 11:00AM, procession to Mt Calvary for burial at 38 & State in Kansas City, Kansas. Luncheon to immediately follow. The family would like to thank all the staff at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park and the staff of Vitas Hospice for the care and support showed to Carmen and her family. With special appreciation to Kerry (RN) and Mary Lou (Social Worker) with Vitas Hospice for their exceptional care provided to Carmen and her family.
