James E. Ridenour Jr (Sonny) passed away Sunday Aug 16th, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Burial at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. There will be a Celebration of Life for James (Sonny) on Saturday Sept. 12th at Wyandotte County Park, Shelter A, Bonner Springs, KS (Across from Providence Amphitheater) 11:30 am – 2:30 pm.
James was born in 1930 in Kansas City, KS to James E. & Marie Ridenour.(French).
He joined the army in 1952 and served honorably until 1954 with his discharge of Corporal with medals of good conduct, army of occupation, national defense service and marksman badge.
James started his driving career as an ice puller in Kansas City, Mo. He continued driving trucks for 50 years.
Through the years he also volunteered for the Parkville Fire department and Wyandotte County Sheriff’s department.
James and his wife Beverly enjoyed country music & concerts, playing cards and going to motorcycle events.
James retired from driving to enjoy time with his wife, children and grandchildren
James is survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Leona and husband David (Kansas City, KS) daughter Catherine (Clinton, MO) son Timothy (Kansas City, KS) and daughter Jamie (Leavenworth, KS) and 10 grandchildren and 13 grandchildren and his sister Betsy Lee Maki. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Leona Kelley and son Rusty Arnold.
