Arthur Richard Moss, Sr, 80, of Horton Kansas passed away on December 18, 2021 in Amberwell Hiawatha Hospital.

Arthur was born on September 17, 1941 to Leroy Francois Moss and Lillian Elizabeth (Dankmeyer) Moss in Aniwa, Wisconsin. Arthur was the youngest of 10 children. He is preceded in death by his brothers Gerald Smith, Frederick Smith, John Smith, Robert Moss of Wisconsin  and Leroy Moss of Nebraska and sisters Leona (Smith) Popp of Wisconsin and Betty (Moss) Balderas of Arizona. Arthur is survived by sisters Shirley (Moss) Falk and Peggy (Moss) Jost of Wisconsin.


Arthur moved to Colorado in 1959 where he met Viola Paez in September of that same year. They married in January of 1960 and had 4 children. Arthur was widowed after nearly 50 years of marriage in October of 2009.


Arthur is survived by his children, Arthur Jr, Robert (Debra), Emma and Lori. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren, Chasity (Francis), Christopher, Jenna, Indio, Lisa (John), Brian (Marni), Carrie, Michael (Christina), Brittany (Erick), Amanda (Greg), Brandon, Adam (Jessica), Maryah and Shania.

Arthur also had 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.

Arthur will be greatly missed. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Paul Henry Meiers, 77, of Overland Park, KS passed away on December 12, 2021 in Merriam, Kansas.

Paul was born in 1944 in Charlotte, North Carolina, son of Robert and Margaret Meiers. His loving family includes his wife of 52 years, Linda, and his children, John Meiers (Jeanine), Sara Hilliard, Mary McBride, and Ben Meiers (Beth); grandchildren Amanda, Nathan, Liam, Abigail, Aedan, Sophie, Zachary, Ciara, Caitlin and Holly; and brothers Phil Meiers (Julie) and George (Carrie).

Joining Norton & Schmidt Consulting Engineers in 1992, Paul was a partner and Principal Engineer.
Paul loved his Catholic faith and led his family to pursue a Christlike life. His faith was the filter of all he did. He passionately pursued his hobbies of woodworking, choir, golf, travel, Tae Kwon Do and family game nights and enjoying his grandchildren’s activities. He was a vibrant character who lived life “loudly.”

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 27, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 West 93rd , Overland Park, KS. Visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 am, Rosary at 10:30am followed by the Mass.

Memorial contributions can be made in Paul’s name to Knights of Columbus Council # 11534 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Ronald Van Loenen

Ronald Van Loenen, 81, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on December 14, 2021 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
 
Ron was born on October 15, 1940 in Norton, Kansas to W.J. and Margaret Van Loenen. The family moved to Goodland, Kansas in 1942 where Ron graduated from Goodland High School in 1958. After graduation Ron began working at the Goodland Daily News. Ron joined the United States Army and proudly served from 1963 through 1966.
 
Following his service in the Army, Ron returned to Goodland and his job at the newspaper. Her retired from the Goodland Daily News in 2006, after more than 50 years of dedicated service.
 
On June 5, 1971 Ron was united in marriage to Linda at the Garden City Church of the Nazarene. Throughout the marriage, Ron and Linda faithfully served the Goodland Church of the Nazarene. After moving to Kansas City Ron and Linda joined the Westside Church of the Nazarene in Olathe.
 
Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda; children, Michael and his wife Stacie of Pearland, TX, and Steven of Kansas City, KS. His grandchildren are Scarlett, Andrew, Bridget, Nathan, and Graham; and his siblings Connie Van Loenen of Garden City, KS, Karen and Neal Hawks of Tucson, AZ, and Darrell and Barb Van Loenen of Hudson, WI. He preceded in death by his sister Janet Smith.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be left at the Derby Community Foundation to the Re’Ana Mekaeil Memorial Scholarship Fund.
 
A memorial service will be held at the Westside Church of the Nazarene, 1700 W. Santa Fe, Olathe, KS, 66061 on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Family visitation will begin at 4:30 followed by the service at 5:00 pm.

Michael (Doc) David Shatto

Mike (Doc) Shatto passed away in Olathe, Kansas on Friday Dec 17, 2021.

Mike worked for General Motors for thirty years. He retired and moved to Arizona for 15 years.

Mike was deeply committed to the First Tee Program at Sunflower Hills Golf Course.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, and sons Paul (Jennifer) and Brian; his brothers Frank, John (Eva), Alan (Margie) Jim. Sister in-law Denise.

He also leaves behind grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends that love him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother’s Benny Shatto and John Lane

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on Dec 28th, 2021 from 6pm-8pm at Kansas City Funeral Directors Inc. 4880 Shawnee Drive.

James W Lauver passed peacefully on December 2, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. He is survived by his sister Alice Wood, his niece Crystal Romines and her two children, as well as his girlfriend Ingy. He was preceded in death by his parents James E and Dorothy Lauver. James was a Vietnam Vet. He loved Ingy, the Chiefs, old cowboy movies, and laughing with his friends at Sunflower Apartments in Merriam. He will be greatly missed.

Robert Jerome Koreen

April 22, 1946 – December 9, 2021

Robert “Bob” Jerome Koreen was born on April 22, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI to Jerome Koreen and Virginia (Rogers) Koreen. He was the eldest of five children; Gini, Marge (deceased), Don (deceased), Paul. He attended Don Bosco Catholic School and after graduating high school, Bob attended Marquette University where he obtained a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Business Administration.

He married Jacqueline Gillespie in 1969 and they had five children; Judi (Jeff Armstrong), Jeanne (Kirk Hanks), Roberta “Bobbi” (Timothy Kohls), Robert Jerome II “Jerry” (deceased), and Rebecca. He has 14 grandchildren; (Judi) Anna, John, Kyle, Joe; (Jeanne) Blake, Zack, Samantha, Lukas, Madalyn; (Roberta) Seth, Ethan, Brayden, Jacob, Beckett and four great-grandchildren; Ezra, Bronson, Frankie and Max.

Bob joined the United States Air Force in 1969 as an Inventory Management Specialist which took him overseas where he was stationed in England. He discharged honorably in 1974 as a Staff Sergeant.

After the military, Bob worked for Frito Lay, which moved he and his family over several years to multiple cities before settling in Topeka, KS in 1980. He spent his career in accounting and management roles, where he really thrived. He worked over a decade at Andrews Asphalt and retired as Comptroller, to ensure he could spend the rest of his years in servitude to the Lord. If you knew Bob, you knew that his faith was his strength and his hope. His love for Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary were his steadfast rock and he wanted to make sure everyone shared in this love. Bob always ensured you knew he was praying for you and he made sure you knew he wanted to live eternity in Heaven with all of his loved ones. Bob was a faithful servant of God and a good friend to so many. His humor and jokes will not be forgotten. If you never heard him introduce himself as “Bob with one O”, you definitely missed out on his favorite chuckle.
Bob had a great love for his family and spoke of them often to anyone who would listen. He always shared how proud he was that each of his children was unique and had been created with distinctive God given talents to share with the world. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved spending time with them and teaching the next generations how to fish, repair things, and enjoy nature.

Bob passed on December 9, 2021 with his daughters by his side sharing favorite “Dad stories” and praying and loving on him as his soul left this Earth. Praise the Lord, Bob has come home to heaven for all of eternity where he has reunited with his beloved son Jerry.

BEVERLY DAWN MCGILL

Beverly Dawn McGill, 93, of Lenexa, KS passed away peacefully on December 6, 2021, with family at her side. She fulfilled her true calling as a loving mother her entire life, and her greatest joy was spending time with her extended family. Bev was born September 9, 1928, to Norman and Gladys Barlindhaug in Minneapolis, MN, where she grew up and later graduated from Southwest High School and studied at University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

She was married to her late husband of 67 years, Ronald Michael McGill, Sr., and they were blessed with 11 children. Bev lived her life with grace, dignity and love. She taught her children to be kind and to show empathy and compassion for others. She had gratitude for all the gifts she was given in her life, especially her 11 children who were her proudest accomplishment. Bev’s primary vocation was raising her children and instilling in them positive values and virtues.
She was also a passionate and committed volunteer throughout her life, with worthy causes including La Leche League, New Mothers Support Group, president of Kansas Advocates for Better Care, and The Funeral Consumer Alliance of Greater Kansas City (FCA-GKC). She served on the FCA-GKC board of directors from 2005-2011 and stepped in as president in 2006 at 77 years-old to help revive the organization. She was a member of Peace Church UCC and loved their small, close knit faith community.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband Ron, daughters, Mary Kathryn McGill and Patricia Lynn (McGill) Jackson. She is survived by her children, Rosemary (Mike) Lee, Ann Marie (Greg) Peterson, Mike (Amy) McGill, Peggy (Dennis) Mitchell, Missy Golubski, Bridget (Todd) Meyers, Tina (Phil) Stutheit, Joel (Becca) McGill, Chris McGill; her son-in- law, Dean Jackson; 30 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. She had so much love for her family and had a positive and lasting impact that will remain with them always. She was the heart and soul of her family and she will be deeply missed.

A private family graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 14th; followed by an outdoor memorial gathering at 3 p.m. with extended family and friends at the Grand Pavilion, Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park, West 87th St. and Greenway Lane, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Funeral Consumers Alliance at https://funeralskc.org/donate-2 . Richard (Terry) Williams, 70, of Independence, Missouri was a phenomenal man who passed away at home on December 8, 2021. He is and always will be very loved, missed, and cherished. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Arborknoll Gospel Assembly, 9633 James A Reed Rd, Kansas City, Missouri 64134. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm with service starting at 6:30 PM. Burial will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the family to help with medical and funeral expenses. If anyone has been ill we politely ask that you stay home in order to protect those at the service. Thank you for understanding.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley & Art Williams. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 53 years, Susan Williams, of Missouri; his three sons, Bobby Williams, Jeremy(Scott) Williams, & Jason Williams, all of Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his amazing sister, Connie Scott; and brother-n-law, Kenny Scott. Terry touched everyone’s life he came in contact with. Terry was the true definition of a blessing.

IRIS IRENE SANFORD

Iris Irene Sanford, 75, of Kansas City, KS, passed away on December 4th, 2021 at Providence Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Viola Moppin, her beloved husband, Reece Sanford Sr., grandson, Jacob Beach, and granddaughter, Jada Davila.

Iris is survived by her brother John Moppin (Linda). Her children, John W. Beach and Jammi Beach. Grandchildren, Kristina Smith (Steven), Joshua Davila (Misty), Cody Zarda (Meghan), Randy Kinney (Brandi), and Jessy. As well as, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends; including the "Golden Girls", Ruthie, Lisa, Cindy, and Poo.

Everyone who remembers Iris is asked to celebrate her life in their own way; telling a, "she wasn't so bad" or "what a b***h” story of their choosing, is asked to join us on Monday, December 13th, 2021 at KC Funeral Home Directors, 4880 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, KS, 66106 from 4p - 6p for a memorial service.
