David P. Bruce, 71, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on November 8, 2019 after a nearly five year battle with Pleomorphic Cell Sarcoma. Dave graduated from Paseo High School in 1966. Following high school, he attended UMKC before joining the Marine Corps from 1970-1974. He returned to UMKC after returning from the Marines and graduated in 1976. He received his MS from Central Missouri State University in 1978. After graduating he worked as a substance abuse counselor before he found he really enjoyed working in industrial sales retiring from U.S. Industrial Lubricants in 2018.

Dave was married to his wife, Sue Bruce, for 36 years. He LOVED bowling. Dave and his wife loved hiking Grand Canyon, taking trips to Hawaii, biking, road trips, his Kentucky Derby party, their many pets, and going to Chiefs and Royals games. He always had a smile on his face when he gave football and baseball cards to the fans of opposing teams of both the Chiefs and the Royals.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents, John & Dorothy Bruce. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Jack Bruce (Columbia, MO), son Jason Bruce (Asheville, NC), and brother, John Bruce Jr. (Chagrin Falls, OH).

Dave has donated his body to Medical Science. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, December 5, at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W 47th St, Kansas City, MO 64112.

Dave was an avid life-long Chiefs fan and 45 year season ticket holder all through all the highs and the lows. Please wear a red or a Chiefs shirt for his memorial service.
