Diana Marie (Kamer) Wiechen, 70, was born October 18, 1950 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS, to Albert and Florence (Richardson) Kamer. She passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021, holding her husband's hand, and with family by her side.

After graduating from Hayden Catholic High School in 1969, Diana began working at the Topeka VA Medical Center. There she met the love of her life, Robert Wiechen. On June 1, 1973, the two wed, and were inseparable for nearly 48 years. Their love for each other is one that we all strive for and admire.

Quick with a hug and a smile, Diane was a light to many. She found comfort in Christ, becoming a Godly servant as a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she loved teaching children's Sunday School. She believed that one should do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility, while counting others more significant than oneself. She lived by this every day of her life, making certain that all knew they could find comfort in her presence.

Diane was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt. But to many, she was everything. She will forever be loved and missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Florence (Richardson) Kamer, sister
JoAnn (Kamer) Tompkins, and brother Edward "Ed" Kamer.

Diana is survived by her loving husband Robert Wiechen; two sons, Christopher Wiechen (Megan) and Andrew Wiechen (Casey Jo); and two grandchildren, Zaden and Mikaela. All reside in Topeka.

To the nurses and caregivers at Interim HealthCare Hospice and Aldersgate Village Life Plan Community, on behalf of the family, thank you. We thank you all for your care, comfort, empathy and compassion that you provided Diana during this difficult time.

A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas. Due to the pandemic, a celebration of Diana's life will be held at a later date, when it is safer to get together.

Tom C. Simmons

April 20, 1936 – December 27, 2020

Tom Simmons passed away on December 27, 2020. The Catholic Mass will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021, 10:30am at Church of the Nativity, 3800 W. 119th Street, Leawood, KS. Please note that masks and social distancing will be required for those attending. The Mass will also be livestreamed at kcnativity.org. A Celebration of Life gathering is planned for a later time.

Tom was born on April 20, 1936 in Kansas City, MO to Dayton and Margaret Simmons. He was the fifth of five and probably the most mischievous. He attended St. James Catholic Grade School, Lillis High School, and Central Missouri State College. He was a member of the Air Force Reserve which is when he was introduced to Cathie on a blind date arranged by a fellow reservist, Dan Ferritor. The date worked out.
Tom started his business life as a traveling auditor for TWA. He worked at Commerce Bank in what was then Data Processing before moving to St. Luke’s Hospital in 1968 to oversee their new IT department where he enjoyed much success. He happily retired from St. Luke’s Hospital Administration in 1995 after 27 years.

Tom was a life-long golfer and spent many years trying to decipher the exact swing key that would transform his game. He had three holes-in-one out of only 86,293 tries. Cathie decided that if she wanted to see her husband she had to learn to play. So they joined what was then Leawood South Country Club in 1976 and made many dear friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joe and Bob Simmons, and sisters Betty Sabin and Mary Trusler. He is survived by Cathie, his wife of 57 years, his daughter Mary Pat Rosewicz (Tim), his son Joe Simmons (Lara), grandchildren Andrew Rosewicz and Allie Simmons, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Contributions in Tom’s name can be made to Care Haven Homes, 3848 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208. We would like to thank them for the magnificent love, care and support they provided to both Tom and Cathie through this last year.

We will miss dad’s bright smile and his witty sense of humor. He was happiest being out of the spotlight and would not want us to publicize his death, so don’t tell anyone.
